I have had many opportunities to see many forms of arts while I lived in Korea, Japan, England, Germany and America and traveled in China and Europe. However, the simple Korean Buddhist paints touch my heart like no other. It might mean that I have most simple taste for arts because I do not know much about arts or I am simply getting old... Or maybe the people and scenes are familiar to me?
I learned how patient and tenacious human can be when I saw the pictures of mosaic in Vatican and so many great and famous arts over the years in many different places. However nothing moves me like the humble and simple paints of old style Korean Buddhist paints. Whenever I come across the painting I like, I think of Sister Yang back home. She had special talent in painting even though she started painting rather late in her life.
