이번 여행에서는 어디를 가나 공중 화장실에 화장지를 변기에 직접버리라는 공고문을 볼 수 있었다.  올해 1월 1일 부터 시작했다고 한다.  광주의 김 자매님, 형제님하고 근처의 절을 방문해서는 내가 본 공중화장실 중에서 가장 예의바른(?) 화장실을 보았다.  변기 자체는 옛날에 쓰건 재래식 화장실이었지만 연못 바로 옆에 위치하고, 신발을 벗고는 슬리퍼로 갈아신어야하고...  화장실 사용 자체를 다르게 보는 불교의 가르침을 배우는 기회였다.  남산에는 장애인만을 위한 화장실도 보았다.  세상이 참 많이 변했다, 불과 1년 사이에...

Everywhere I went this trip, I saw signs to put your toilet papers into the toilet itself and not to the trashcans you normally saw in the restrooms.  They say the changes started on January 1, 2018.  When Sister Kim, her husband and I visited a Buddhist temple I learned even toilets are places to learned life lessons in Buddhism. It was the old fashion toilet, without running water placed right next to a pond.  You have to change your shoes to sleepers to enter the restroom..  On Nam-san mountain I saw a bathroom just for handicapped persons.  Korea is changing so quickly...
