Snow storm before Spring

Add caption
Even though a cold snap brought the Han river freeze we really didn't have a cold winter nor too much snow. But last week we had a surprise snow storm and this time Dan finally got to shovel the snow!

Like I said the river froze earlier. When I was growing up it stopped freezing due to the pollution. It was so good to see the frozen river.

Motorcycles...

It's an understatement to say the roads are crowd here. The public transportations are excellent and inexpensive but too many people want to drive. But it's not the cars rule the roads it's motorcycles. They are everywhere and go everywhere, on the roads, sidewalks and against the traffic....

Elections in Korea

His last name sounds like "five" and the first name sounds like "breast".  I am sure it means entirely different written in Chinese characters. But still...   I am pulling for him just for that!
This poster is to protest firing for low performances.  Apparently you cannot fire for low performance in Korea.  About that issue Dan and I are split.  Dan is for labor union and I am not...
There will be a general election next month in Korea. That is certain but nothing else is clear.  I asked few Koreans but no one seems to know how many opposition parties there are.  I counted Six.  There is one labor party, one Christian party among others.  The biggest opposition party wants to unite with the second biggest but the answer is *not sure"

There is no primary, and the candidates are interviewed by a panel. Even you are the current Congress person, you have to go through the same process and some are turned down and they switch the party or running as independents.  There will be many running as independents, it appears

The politics are as ugly here as in America BUT there are no political ads on TV, thank goodness!  Only signs you see are big signs on buildings.  The election is in the middle of April but as of end of March, few candidates are still appealing and the panels are still arguing about the candidates....

I am so glad I don't have to vote.
